Kenny Burwell, 58, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6th at his home after a long battle with cancer. Friends may gather from 12-2pm, Saturday May 11th at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. Funeral service will begin at 2pm, followed by burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Kenny was born May 24, 1965 in Morris, Minnesota to Robert and Clara Curry Burwell. They moved to Columbia when he was in middle school. He attended Hickman High School. He worked as a farmhand on the Cunningham farm for several years. He also worked many years in construction and was good in many trades. He enjoyed being outdoors on the family farm where he fished and spent time with friends and family. He enjoyed firearms and knives and was a Bucee’s fanatic. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his spouse, Lisa Stanfield; a son, Kyle (Miranda) Stanfield of Hallsville; three grandchildren, Maddix, Jaxon, and Kyra Stanfield; siblings, Ruth Burwell of Boonville, Pat Runkle of Sturgeon, Mike (Christi) Burwell of Hallsville, and Kyle (Jill) Burwell of Columbia; many nieces and nephews and a loving extended family, and his beloved Chihuahuas Chico and Tinkerbell. He was preceded in death by his parents; nieces, Rebecca Hall and Michelle (Tippy) Runkle; a great-nephew, Lucas Burwell, a brother-in-law, Ben Runkle, and a good childhood friend, Eric Tinsley.
