Survivors include his wife, Martha Shern, of Columbia; children, Brenda (Chris) Polasik, Ken Shern, both of Olathe, KS, Karen (Marty) Gunter of Parkville, MO and Julie (Tad) Kardis of Olathe, KS; 10 grandchildren; brother, Darwin (Maryetta) Shern, of Columbia and sister, Colleen (Gerald) Sims of Hallsville, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert L. Shern and Jesse Shern, Jr; one sister, Zeda Teel.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service, from 9:00-10:00, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels of Columbia, MO.
