Larry Wayne Allen, 76, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 9th, 2023. Larry, born on September 11th, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, was the son of Charles and Beryl (Harrington) Allen. On August 24, 1968, he was married to Linda Kathleen Seffens in Kansas City, Missouri.
Larry earned a bachelor’s degree from Central Missouri State University and spent time working passionately in radio during the 1970s and 80s in Sedalia, Missouri. He later worked and retired as a probation and parole officer with the State of Missouri in Jefferson City, Missouri. Larry was a lover of history, poetry, reading, community theater, the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, spending time at home with his family, and a freshly sliced and salted tomato. His humor was a constant source of laughter for his family and friends.
Larry is survived by two children; Amanda (Travis) Miller of Columbia and Andrew (Carly) Allen of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; one brother, Terry (Nancy) Allen of Columbia; and two grandchildren, Vivien and Claudia Miller of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Linda.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17th, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home, with the service held afterwards at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
