Larry was born on April 11, 1938, in Searcy, Arkansas, the son of Ernest Eugene and Mabel Louise (Henry) David, who preceded him in death. He had an affinity for learning, earning a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. His career lead him to the University of Missouri-Columbia where he worked as a faculty member and administrator for over 30 years. He had a natural ability to teach and engage with students, which he treasured. The ability to teach and mentor others translated into a passion for officiating high school basketball and football. He was a leader within the Columbia Basketball Officials Association and the Columbia Football Officials Association where he contributed to inspiring countless young officials. Traveling to exotic regions of the world was common for Larry. He visited multiple countries and continents, spending many winters in the warmth of Southeast Asia. Other hobbies were enjoying theatre, going to movies, and reading. He was an avid Mizzou Athletics fan. He received the most joy in interacting with his family, especially his grandchildren. Whatever activity Larry was involved in, there was always a constant smile on his face.
