

Born on November 7th in Columbia, MO, Larry was the son of Otis Leon Skaggs and Dorothy (Proctor) Skaggs. He graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1967 and was drafted to the US Army in March of 1970 where he proudly served until October of 1972. He dedicated over 20 years to perfecting his trade as a drywall finisher before going to work at the University of Missouri as supervisor of residential life where he retired from in 2014.
With a heart for his country and devotion to his family, Larry could often be found in his shop creating beautiful signs he carved by hand, outback by his lake casting a line or generously sharing the harvest from his passion for gardening. Larry touched countless lives with his gentle leadership and ability to see the good in people. He was always quietly guiding us to always believe in ourselves.
Larry is survived by his wife, Jeanie of 56 years; daughter Wendy Auck (Danny); sons, Ryan Skaggs (Ashlee); Shane Skaggs and Shawn Skaggs; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; his siblings and a wide circle of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Otis Leon and Dorothy (Proctor) Skaggs and one brother, Ronnie Skaggs.
A celebration of life will be held at 1pm – 3pm on Thursday, November 20th at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery: 1479 County Road 1675, Jacksonville, MO 65260
