Lurline was born April 1933 in Boone County, MO the daughter for Harley and Mildred Nichols, the second oldest of four children. She married Owen Griggs on February 22, 1986 an he preceded her in death. Lurline was a lifelong resident of Boone County. Her first job was working for Columbia Public Schools in the lunchrooms. She then went to work at 3M and retired from there in 1990. She was instrumental in helping establish the Columbia Senior Center. She loved to play pool there and volunteered many hours. She continued to volunteer there as long as her health permitted and certainly missed seeing her many friends she made over the years at the Center.
One of Lurline’s greatest joys was the making of and giving away of candy at Christmas time each year. She would begin making candy and caramel corn early in the season for all of her friends and family. It was indeed an honor to be included on her candy list.
She is survived by her son, Tommy (Rosie) Wyatt of Ashland; two grandsons, Courtney (Paige) Wyatt and Shane Wyatt; a great-granddaughter, Harper, and a brother-in-law, Donald Lorton and family. Her husband, two sisters, one brother, and her parents preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Columbia Senior Center 1121 Business 70 East, Columbia, MO 65201.
