
She was born March 2, 1913, in Worth County, Missouri, the daughter of Fred and Clara Cooper. In 1924, the family moved to Denver, Colorado where she graduated from high school. She went on to graduate from what was then Northwest Missouri State College in 1935. She taught school in Westport, Missouri before marrying Marvin Shamberger on August 17, 1937. The Shambergers moved in 1947 from Bowling Green, Missouri, where Marvin was the Superintendent of Schools, to Columbia to become Director of Research for the Missouri State Teachers Association. Marceline and her husband were very active in community and church related activities, and were long time members of the First Christian Church in Columbia. She was predeceased by her husband on January 23, 1997, after almost sixty six years of marriage.
Marceline Shamberger is survived by two sons, James Shamberger of Washington, DC and Dr. Robert Shamberger and his wife Kathleen of Wellesley, Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Jason Shamberger and his wife Katherine of Groton, Massachusetts, Patrick Shamberger and his wife Kathryn of College Station, Texas, and Lindsay Frey and her husband Chris of Darien, Connecticut; and six great grandchildren, Madeline, Corrine, and Adam Shamberger of Groton, Massachusetts, Evan and Anna Jane Frey of Darien, Connecticut, and Abigail Shamberger of College Station, Texas.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 10:00am at Memorial Park Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life to follow at Memorial Funeral Home at 11:00am.
