Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Terry was born May 26, 1955, in Columbia, Missouri, to Vernon and Peggy Phillips Jennings. She graduated from Hickman High School in 1973 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri.
In 1976, Terry began her long and dedicated career with MFA Insurance, now Shelter Insurance. During more than 45 years of service, she held positions in several departments, including Mailing, Accounting, Communications, and Purchasing, before retiring in 2021. She was perhaps best known for coordinating the Shelter Garden concerts, annual tree lighting, and fountain turn-on events.
In 1985, Terry welcomed her son, Corey King, from her first marriage. She was a devoted and loving mother who was always there for Corey. She supported him throughout his life, helped plan multiple graduation celebrations, and even followed him across the country during the early stages of his career. Her love and devotion to her son were among the greatest joys of her life.
Terry was known for her compassionate and caring nature. She often put the needs of family and friends before her own and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, animals, and adding to her extensive collections of antique frogs and Kewpies.
Above all, Terry cherished her son, her family, and her many friends. She will be remembered for her generous heart, kindness, loyalty, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.
Terry is survived by her son, Corey King, numerous cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved furry companion, Mr. Jinks; her father, Vernon Jennings; her brother, Doug Jennings; and her husband, John Hume.
Memorial contributions in Terry's honor may be made to the Humane Society or the American Heart Association.
