
Margaret “Joan” Waller, of Columbia, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Boone Hospital Center. Joan was born in Jacksonville, IL September 24, 1922 to Earl Escarl Rogers and Frances Louise (Wallace) Rogers. She married Charles R. “Bob” Waller in 1940 at Pekin, IL. They lived in the Chicago area for 40 years until 1980 when Bob and Joan moved to Columbia. She was most recently a resident of the Lenoir Retirement Community. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 10 to 11 am, at Lenoir Woods Community Center, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 with Chaplain Jerry Riggert officiating. Private burial will be in Winchester, IL. Joan was active in Columbia as a member of Chapter AZ of P.E.O., the Elosia Haseman Circle of King’s Daughters, and the Columbian Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also an active member of Boonslick Trail Quilters Guild and Red Work group and member of her church circle at Trinity Presbyterian Church. While in Chicago, Joan served as a Girl Scout leader, member of the Lincolnwood Women’s Club, and Westminster Presbyterian Church, Skokie, IL. Surviving are her daughters Nancy Thomas (Tom) of Columbia; daughter Carole Seibert (Jack) of Lexington, KY; two grandsons David Thomas (Amy) of West Plains, MO, Phil Holoubek (Marnie) and granddaughter Joy Moore (Andrew) of Lexington, KY; Six great-grandchildren, Nathan and Mia Thomas of West Plains, Allison and Katie Holoubek and Gavin and Peyton Moore, all of Lexington, KY; a sister, Jean Stebbins of IA; a brother Jack Rogers (Janice) of AZ, and Marty Cunneen, her caregiver and friend. Joan is remembered by her family and friends for her witty humor, generosity and the pride she expressed in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family thanks the Bradford Manor staff at Lenoir and Boone Hospital Center for their exceptional care.
