

Marilyn L. Anderson, 82, Jefferson City, Missouri formerly of Chicago Heights, Illinois died Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Lenoir Woods in Columbia, Missouri. She was born December 26, 1938, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Blanche Anderson who preceded her in death.
Ms. Anderson was a graduate of Sperry High School, earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and went on to earn her Master’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.
She began her career of teaching at Rockford High School, then to Waukegan High School, Waukegan, Illinois, before moving on to Bloom Township High School #206, Chicago Heights, Illinois. She remained at Bloom until she retired. Ms. Anderson taught physical education and coached synchronized swimming and women's basketball. Marilyn was inducted into the Illinois Girls Coaches Association Hall of Fame and received the Bloom High School Bobbie Bell Award.
In addition to coaching, she enjoyed nature, camping, traveling all over the USA, and biking around the Great Lake. During her life, she collected stamps and coins and enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephew during holidays and summers.
Surviving is her sister, Elizabeth 'Betty' Felgar of Bunceton, Missouri; her nieces, Sarah (David) Kuschel, Mary Felgar, Susan (Mike) Gregory, all of Bunceton, Missouri, Florence (Charles) Jackson of Russellville, Missouri and Rebecca Thompson of Jefferson City, Missouri; one nephew, Linn (Teri) Felgar of Bunceton. In addition she had numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, James 'Jim' Felgar.
Arrangements are under the directions of Memorial Funeral Home of Columbia, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
