
Mary O. Coe, 87, of Columbia, passed away on April 24 at her home. There will be a memorial service at Trinity Presbyterian Church on May 30th at 11:00 a.m. Mary was born July 10, 1927, in Alexandria, Virginia, to the late Albert and Mae Palmer Longley. She graduated Valedictorian from Washington and Lee High School in 1945. She earned her BS in biology in 1949 from George Washington University, graduating Valedictorian of her class. On June 16, 1949, she married Edward Coe in Arlington, Virginia, and he survives. Mary was very dedicated to her church, Trinity Presbyterian, directing Christian Education and editing the newsletter, Trinity Times. She also provided the flowers for church services and hospital visits. One of Mary’s passions was flowers and knowing every one of their names. With her family, she traveled the United States extensively, as well as internationally. In 2009, she completed visits to all 50 states by traveling to South Dakota for their 60th anniversary. In addition to her husband, Edward, she is survived by two children, Ann Stein (Allan Wearing) of Madison, Wisconsin, and Jane Johnson of Kirksville, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Sarah, David, and Kathryn Stein, all of Madison, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mary O. Coe to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1600 W Rollins, Columbia, Missouri; Food Bank, 2101 Vandiver Drive, Columbia; or UNICEF, 125 Maiden Lane, New York, NY 10038.
