

Michelle was an avid spelunker in her younger days and later spent time with her husband visiting the show caves of Missouri.
Michelle was known for her strong work ethic, dedication, and caring spirit. She began her career as a registered nurse, where she compassionately cared for others for many years. Later in life, she followed a different path and opened her own landscaping business, where she took great pride in her work and her love of nature and flowers.
On May 31, 1980, Michelle married the love of her life, Gary Dietrich. They shared many wonderful years together, and he survives at their home in Columbia.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Alexander and her husband Doug of Marshall, Missouri; her grandson, Ethan Alexander; her sister Jackie Grabowski and her husband Jay of Mark Twain Lake, Missouri, and brother Mike Hays and his wife Connie of Wentzville, Missouri; her brothers-in-law, Mark Dietrich and his wife Wanda of St. Louis, Missouri, and Kevin Dietrich and his wife Judy of Mark Twain Lake, Missouri; her sister-in-law, Lynn Aichs and her husband Rob of Nevada; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Darlene Hays.
Michelle was a faithful member of Christian Fellowship Church in Columbia since 1977. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she generously gave her time and talents to the church, often caring for the church property through her landscaping work. She especially enjoyed flower gardening and found great joy in spending time with her family.
Michelle will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the love she shared with those around her. She leaves behind many cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Fellowship School in her honor.
A Memorial service will be held March 19 at 11:00 at Christian Fellowship Church, 5045 Chapel Hill Road.
