He was born on December 19, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, the youngest of ten and the son of Italian immigrants, Michele and Mariantonia Scavone.
Nat served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and in the New York National Guard. He married Kathleen Keller in 1957 and they had three sons: John (Meryl); Edward (Gina), and Peter (Cinthia). IN 1969 he received his Accounting Degree from Queen’s College in New York and worked for the New York Stock Exchange and served as the Internal Auditor of Coral Springs, Florida, before moving to Columbia in 1975 to serve as Columbia’s City Comptroller.
On July 19, 1986, Nat married Bette Keene Martin at First Christian Church in Columbia and was employed as the Chief Accountant of Fulton State Hospital, Fulton, Missouri, retiring in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Bette, of 31 years, three sons, four grandchildren, one sister, Matilda LoFaro, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Reverend Brad Stagg will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Christian Church, Columbia, Missouri or Knights of Columbus.
