

Othella Reed was born on July 2, 1933, to Wm. Leonard Yates and Belle Zora Mackey Yates, in Kempner, Texas. Her parents preceded her in death, as well as three older brothers, Emmett, Ernest Claude, and Marvin; Also, three sisters, Dona Fern Shelby, Maxine Fultz, and Bertha Jones; and a daughter, Pamala List.
The Yates family raised their children on a farm near Eldorado, Oklahoma. Othella graduated from the Eldorado High School; attended Western Oklahoma State college receiving an Asso. of Arts Degree; and Abilene Christian College.
Othella married Donald Cloyse Smith on April 22, 1953. They continued their college education, with Don becoming a registered Pharmacist; and she, a Real Estate Broker. They lived in the Dallas, Texas area, owning a Drug Store in Royce City, Texas and one in Garland, Texas. They raised three children, Pamala (deceased in 2014), Pattie, and Paul Smith. They moved to Missouri in 1972 where the children enjoyed farm life and living near the Lake of the Ozarks. Don passed away on August 31, 1979.
Othella married Wm. Reed on December 14,1985. Mr. Reed was a retired Army Veteran. They enjoyed 15 years of traveling the United States, the country he had proudly protected. He passed away in February 2000.
Othella moved to Columbia 2003 and became active in activities in the area. She was an active member of the Eastside Church of Christ.
She will be remembered by her children, Pattie Smith, Paul Smith, Annalois Pittman, and Ami Smalley; and their families which includes many grand and great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements for Othella Reed will be held at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 W. Business Loop 70, Columbia, Missouri.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, June 1, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 2, at 10:00 a.m.
A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Mose Creek Cemetery, located off Lake Road 7-13 near Climax Springs, Missouri, in Camden County.
