A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time and place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Effingham Centenary United Methodist Church, where Pat was a member for over 60 years, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, C/O Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W. Columbia, MO 65202.
Pat was born December 14, 1933, in North Salem, IN, to Byron C and Mary Marguerite Porter. She married Duane R. Neet on Sept. 4, 1955 at Wabash College Chapel in Crawfordsville, IN.
Pat was a registered nurse graduating from Indiana University who went on to be Director of Nursing at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Il. She then worked as a pediatric nurse until her retirement in 2003. She received her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of CO and at the time was the first PNP South of Chicago. (PNP) She devoted her entire career to helping and caring for children. She was a past member of Chapter FA and charter member of Chapter NF of P.E.O. She was also a member of Eastern Star, and the choir at Centenary United Methodist Church.
Pat, (aka Annie, Mom, Gma, Grams, Memaw), was full of life. She was an advocate for all children, especially those that were underserved or in need of care. She never said no to any child in need, day or night. She loved her children, grand children, and great grandchildren. Whether playing games, swimming in the pool, or reading stories, she provided her full attention, love, joy, and enthusiasm to those around her. While living in Effingham, she would often be seen at the Ramada Dine and Dance with her first love, Duane, or boating on Lake Sara with good friends. Later in life she would spend countless hours traveling to see her family. Mom will always be remembered with a smile on her face and favorite libation in her hand.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Kevin) Neet West of Ashland MO; son, Brad (Kelli) Neet of Murrieta, CA; grandchildren, Brian (Genese) Marshall, Jessica (Michael) Fowler, Lauren (Andrew) Stoffel, Breanna Neet, and Jaxson Neet; great grandchildren Kayla Marshall, Jacob Marshall, Elyse Marshall, Tessa Fowler, Isabella Fowler, Elizabeth Fowler,: and nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Barbara Porter.
