Pauline Eleanor White, 101, of Ashland, MO, passed away Thursday October 11, 2018 at Ashland Villa. Visitation will be on Monday October 15, 2018 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, MO. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pauline was born to Proctor Pace and Ella Pitts Pace on January 6, 1917 in Ashland, MO. She grew up in the Ashland/Englewood area and was a graduate of Ashland High School. On September 30, 1939 she was united in marriage to Virgil “Cotton” White who preceded her in death in 2013.
After her husband’s return from service in WWII, they moved to Sturgeon in 1953 where they owned and operated the local IGA grocery store. The family moved to Columbia in 1958 where Pauline began her career at the University of MO accounting department. She was the accounts payable supervisor there until her retirement. After retirement, Pauline and Virgil built a family lake house where they enjoyed fishing and boating. They were great basketball fans and had season tickets to the Mizzou Tigers for many years. Pauline enjoyed cooking dinners for her family and was famous for her fried chicken. She was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
Pauline is survived by two sons, Stanley (LeeAnn) White of Moberly, MO, and Richard (Dee) White of Columbia, Mo; one sister, Ella Maye Glasscock of Ashland, MO; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Dorothy Nichols, Della Faye Pauley, and Roberta Gardner, and brothers MD Pace and Lahman Pace.
