Phyllis Jean Evans

On July 28, 1930, Phyllis was born to the late Arthur Roberts and the late Jean (Smith) Roberts in Dayton, Ohio.

She was united in marriage to William Eugene Evans on December 27, 1952, in Dayton, Ohio.

Phyllis graduated high school in Dayton, Ohio in 1948 and received a B.S. degree in Education in 1952, from Bowling Green State University located in Bowling Green, Ohio. She later received an M.A. in Curriculum Planning from San Diego State University.

She will be missed by her children, Jon Evans (Carylon) of Victorville, California and Tim Evans (Debbie) of Columbia, Missouri; her granddaughters Kendall and Kelsey in California; her granddaughter Andreya (Chris) in Austin, Texas; and her grandson William in Kansas City, Missouri, as well as two great grandchildren in California, her niece Margie in Colorado, and her extended family, including Kelly (Walker), Jenny, Thomas, and Bridget (John), all residing in California.

In addition to her parents and sister Winnifred, she was preceded in death by her husband William E. (Bill) Evans and one granddaughter, Courtney Jean Evans.

A memorial service will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM (Visitation) and 1:00 to 2:00 PM (Celebration of Life) on June 16, 2026, at the United Community Methodist Church, located at 3301 West Broadway in Columbia, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Phyllis Evans are suggested to support the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Gifts may be directed to the Raptor Rehabilitation Program, Clinical Skills Laboratory, or Shelter Medicine. Checks should be made payable to the University of Missouri, with “Phyllis Evans Memorial” written on the memo line, along with a note indicating which fund you would like to support.
