Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Raymond was born on June 13, 1932, in Columbia the son of Roy Raymond and Lela Mae (Burkhart) Schnell, both of whom preceded him in death.
He attended David H Hickman High School and served in the United States Army in San Francisco from 1951-1953. He was a self-employed brick mason. Starting at age 14 he began bricking and building homes alongside his father. He eventually retired from brick laying in 1985 and began working at the University of Missouri in the maintenance department as a tuck pointer. He retired from there after working for 13 years. He loved to build and flip houses, dancing, playing cards, playing guitar and always enjoyed having company.
Raymond is survived by: his children: Randall Schnell (Kelli) of Columbia, Larry Helwig of Columbia, Randy Helwig (Amanda) of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Tammy Webb (Brian) of Fulton; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; nieces, Connie Stanley of Columbia and Janice Whitaker of Madison, Missouri; 2 great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Anna Mae Strawn.
