Columbia, Missouri mourns the loss of Regina Kay Merritt, a beloved wife, mom, Nana, and friend who went home to Jesus on June 2, 2024, at the age of 85. Regina was born on April 24th, 1939, in Evansville, Indiana. Regina moved across the midwest while raising her family with John Oren, and ended up in Columbia in 1985 to present.
Regina was a generous, selfless, loving individual who positively impacted all of those she met and built relationships with. She found immense joy in spending time with her family and cultivating a relationship with Christ. Her love for her family was beyond measure. She devoted herself, ensuring her family was well taken care of, across multiple generations, and provided numerous opportunities to make memories that would last a lifetime. Her love for Jesus was inspirational. Regina showed her love in many ways, but the best way she knew how was to pray for every one of her family members and friends each morning. She enjoyed her church community at Forum Christian Church where she attended worship services, Sunday school, 55+ ministries, and volunteering.
Regina Kay Merritt is survived by her loving family and friends, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her. Though she may have gone home to be with Jesus, her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, and future generations to come.
A celebration of Regina’s life will be held on Friday, June 14th at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ALS Association in Regina’s honor https://donate.als.org or Hospice Compassus 303 N Keene St Suite 306, Columbia, MO 65201.
Regina’s departure leaves a void in our hearts, but her memory, and the promise we have in our Lord Jesus, will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
John 11: 25-26
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die. Do you believe this?"
