Richard was truly a jack-of-all-trades and was never afraid to work hard or learn something new. Throughout his career, he worked as a mason and became an expert floor layer before eventually retiring from the HVAC industry. He took pride in his work and was the kind of man who could fix, build, or figure out just about anything.
In his younger years, Richard loved spending time outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting quail, pheasant, and deer. He also loved riding his motorcycle, listening to music—especially Lynyrd Skynyrd—and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs. But above all else, Richard loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who cherished the time he spent with those he loved.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Samuels of Columbia, Missouri; his two daughters, Sara Beth Nielsen and her husband, Neil, of Alabama, and Andrea Lynn Samuels and her husband, Lucio Sirotti, of Italy; four grandchildren, Ryker, Rylie, Sebastian, and Nicholas; his sister, Linda Glascock of Columbia; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
