Robert "Bob" Valentine

Robert S. Valentine, 85, of Columbia, passed away November 16, 2015 at Columbia Health Care. Funeral service will be 11 am Thursday November 19, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Robert was born July 10, 1930, in Columbia, MO, to Slater and Mabel ”Semon” Valentine, who preceded him in death. He later married his wife Barbara “Carver” Valentine on July 1, 1955.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara, of Columbia, four children Ronda Thurman(Jim), of Columbia; Ron Valentine(Tracy), of O’ Fallon, MO; Elaine Bronke(David), of Hutchison, KS; Randy Valentine(Lisa), of Columbia,. Six grandchildren Melissa Rogers; Sarah Glass (Brian); Tony Bronke (Krissy); Ashley, Amber Valentine, of O’ Fallon and Morgan Valentine, of Columbia. Six great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, three siblings Jean Sutton, of Arkansas; and twin’s sisters Faye Richardson, and Maye Frazier, both of Columbia. He was a graduate of Hickman High School in 1948.

Robert was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He was in the VFW, 40/8, American Legion, Eagles, and the International Order of Odd Fellows. He was avid golfer, and loved to dance. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Cancer Association and or the American Diabetes foundation.
