Roy “RL” Lloyd Douglas Jr., 80, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025, at home on the farm he loved, surrounded by loved ones. RL was born in Boone County on January 9, 1945, to the late Roy “Lloyd” Douglas, Sr. and the late Doris Doty Douglas.
He was a graduate of Hickman High School and from a young age, RL was a mechanic and loved race cars and motorcycles. On June 19, 1982, he married his beloved wife, Brenda, who preceded him in death on October 19, 2023. RL and Brenda traveled far and wide on his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. He returned to life on the farm where he settled into raising cattle, hunting, collecting guns, enjoying wildlife and delighting in the simple things in life, like spending time with family. RL worked many years as a general electrician, retiring from Kraft Foods.
RL is survived by his son, William “Billy” Douglas, daughter, Tracy Westbrook, and stepson, Jeff Adams; Grandchildren, Michael Chick (Ashley), Brandi Chick (Lacey), Brianna Westbrook (Jacob), and Brandon Westbrook (Hailey); Great Grandchildren, Davina, Camden and arriving soon, Corbin; sister, Louise Hudspeth Shrull and brother, Delton Douglas; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Cancer Associates or Columbia Fish and Wildlife.
