Visitation will be 2-4pm, Sunday, February 23rd at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. Funeral Service will be 11am, Monday at the funeral home followed by burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was born January 8, 1938, in Columbia, MO, the son of Lonnie and Eunice Poe Smith. On December 22, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Ruth Miller, and she survives.
Russell worked for the University of Missouri Poultry Department from 1954-1994. He retired in 1994 and worked on the family farm and with his neighbor in the cattle business.
Russell will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Mary; son, Ray Lee (Jennifer); granddaughter, Jillian Duncan, and a brother, Jerry Smith (Dennis). He has many nieces and nephews who blessed his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Everett Smith (Deana), Vera Shaw (Wesley), Ruby Perkins (Vinis), Harold Smith (Sue), Emmett and Mabel Young (Jimmy).
