Salvatore (Sam) Joseph Losapio, of Columbia, Mo., passed away on May 26, 2024. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on May 31 at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop West Columbia, MO with the Funeral Mass at 10am, Saturday, June 1st at Our Lady of Lourdes, 903 Bernadette Drive Columbia, MO.
He was born in Kansas City, to Salvatore and Angelina Losapio, on April 15, 1950. Sam graduated from DeLaSalle High School and went on to meet the love of his life, Mary (Graveman) Losapio, at Rockhurst College.
Sam worked tenaciously in his career in insurance and marketing, and devoted his spare time to his family and community. He served with the Knights of Columbus and gifted Our Lady of Lourdes parishioners with his beautiful voice in choir.
A proud Italian-American, Sam was the king of meatballs for family gatherings. A guest in his home never went hungry. His generosity, kindness and knack for making people smile knew no bounds, and many a young child walked away with a crisp $2 bill thanks to Sam.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rose Miller. He is survived by his wife, Mary, their daughters, Jennie (Scott) Iverson, Christi (Tom) Everett, Juliette (Donny) Schmidt, and their five grandchildren, Lucy and Sam Iverson, Aaron and Lily Everett, and Ethan Schmidt.
In Sam's memory, we encourage you to be kind to a stranger, buy flowers for an acquaintance, or go out of your way to make someone smile. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Our Lady of Lourdes.
