Scott was born on February 3, 1964, in St Louis County, Missouri. On June 20, 1964, he was adopted by Richard and Wanda Kerr. For many years, his family was always told that Scott was the best gift for his dad’s first Father’s Day.
Scott graduated Dallas City High School in 1982 and later attended Western Illinois University as well as Life Chiropractic College in Atlanta Georgia.
Scott married April Boatman in 1985 in Hamilton, IL. While they had two beautiful children, they later divorced. Scott found his soulmate, Rose Pyron and shared more than twenty wonderful years of love, companionship, and cherished memories.
Scott is survived by his son, Ryan (Carolyn) Kerr of Texas; daughter, Jennifer (Lee) Sessions of Texas; sisters, Stacey (David) Goralczyk of Gilbert, Arizona, Shala Kisling of New Milford, Connecticut, and Stephanie Kerr of Henry, Illinois; stepsisters, Lesa Oliver of Macomb, Illinois, and Stacy Miller of Rushville, Illinois; and Rose's daughter, Brittany Beckham of Springfield, Missouri. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Cowles; his father, Dr. Richard Kerr; his stepmother, Mary Lou Kerr; his beloved soulmate, Rose Pyron; and Rose's son, Derrick Holt.
Throughout his youth, Scott was actively involved in Boy Scouts and proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout, an accomplishment that reflected his determination and character. As a young man, he and his father traveled together performing magic shows, creating memories and bringing smiles to countless audiences. Later, Scott spent many years working alongside his father at Kerr Chiropractic in Macomb, where he enjoyed helping others.
Perhaps more than anything, Scott never knew a stranger. He had a gift for conversation and could connect with just about anyone. He loved sharing stories from his life, passing along lessons he had learned, and keeping family and friends entertained with his unique sense of humor and daily dad jokes. He was always up for a road trip and enjoyed the bonding time with his son. Among his favorite stories were tales from childhood, including his inventive knot-tying skills that once left his sister’s bedroom doors connected in such a way that none of them could be opened at the same time. His storytelling, laughter, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Scott's legacy lives on through his family, his friendships, and the countless lives he touched with kindness, humor, and an open heart. He will be lovingly remembered and forever missed.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date in Dallas City, Illinois.
