A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70W, in Columbia, Mo. An additional visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with a funeral mass following at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 18 at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church 1720 College Avenue, in Quincy, Il.
Shannon was born on June 4, 1984 in Quincy, Il. The daughter of Timothy M. Leahy, Sr. and Michele (Winters) Alger. She was married on September 1, 2007 at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Quincy, Il. , to the love of her life, Brandon T. Dye, who survives.
A 2003 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School and received her Associates in Arts Degree from John Wood Community College, both in Quincy, Il.
Shannon loved life and lived each day to the fullest. She loved adventures and spending time with her family and friends. With a beautiful smile, Shannon would light up a room, she never met a stranger and loved surprising people with special little gifts. She enjoyed hanging out with her dogs, gardening, crocheting, following the Missouri Tigers and The Pittsburgh Steelers. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
Besides her husband of 11 years, Shannon is survived by: her mother, Michele Alger of Bloomington, Il.; Her step-father, Larry Alger of Quincy, Il.; maternal grandparents Robert and Patricia Winters of Quincy, Il.; Father-in-Law, Brad (Karen) Dye of St. Louis, Mo. ; Mother-in-Law, Debra Dye of Quincy, Il.; sisters, Carrie (Steven) Robinson and Jennie (Michael) Acres and brother, Timothy M. Leahy Jr. of LaGrange, Mo. Four Brother-in-Laws, Matt(Kourtney) Dye of Columbia, Mo., Michael (Kristin) Metzger of Jefferson City, Mo., D.J. (Dianna) Pittman of St. Peters, Mo. and Joshua Dye of Quincy, Il. Numerous nieces and nephews, as well as, aunts, uncles and cousins, and her beloved beagle, Archer.
Shannon is preceded in death by her father, Timothy M. Leahy Sr. and her paternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers ,the family requests, memorials be made to The Triple Ribbon Project 503 E. Nifong #227, Columbia, Mo. 65201 to the Shannon Dye Memorial Fund to assist other women fighting Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at The Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, for the wonderful care and compassion extended to Brandon and Shannon throughout this difficult journey, as well as, all those who helped by hosting benefits.
