Shirley Jean Acton, 75, of Columbia, passed away, Sunday, July 29, 2018 at her home surrounded by family. A visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018 with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Shirley was born August 3, 1942 in Boone County, the daughter of Elzia Ray Bagley and Lola Mae Mason Cook Bagley. She also was raised for a time by her step father Maurice Mason. On February 15, 1960 she was united in marriage to James O. Acton who survives.
Shirley was most recently employed at The Bluffs for 10 plus years. She enjoyed embroidery and making baby blankets. She liked to watch old country & western movies and listen to Elvis Presley and Charlie Pride. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by Jim and their children: Lisa Craig; Larry (Theresa) Acton; her siblings: Bonnie Mason; Judy (John) Holley; Gary (Jeannie) Mason; Kenneth (Wendy) Mason; Gloria Ruppe; Judy Rexroad; Beverly Duncan; Terry Ray Bagley ; James Elwin Bagley; Kenny Joe Bagley; Elzia Ray Bagley, Jr; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and four nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; two children: Michael Acton and Tammy Lynn Acton.
