Bill Carothers, 68, of Columbia, MO passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Private family services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home.
Bill was born December 26, 1952 in Clarksville, AR the son of Edward E. and Ruby Ann Stout Carothers. His family moved to central Missouri when he was young. He was a 1970 graduate of Keytsville High School where he loved playing basketball. He joined the US Air Force and served in Vietnam. After the war he continued his education while in California, earning a Master’s degree in Business Management. He worked for many years as a Heavy Machinery Operator for the Riverside County Landfill in California before he chose to move to Columbia to be closer to his family. Before his return to Missouri he had met and married Diana Potter in Ehrenburg, AZ. After they returned, he went to work again as a heavy machinery operator for the City of Columbia Landfill, he spent 15 years there before retiring once more.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Carothers; siblings, Allen (Sheila Kay) Carothers, Marilyn (Ron) Scheiderer, and Robert (Elda) Carothers, and a loving extended family.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia.
