Barbara J. Higgs

Barbara Higgs, age 73 of Oak Vale, MS passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, MS. She was a homemaker and later worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse with Marion General Hospital and The Myrtles Nursing Center. Barbara was a member of Society Hill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Higgs was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Higgs; parents, Selby Davis and Willie Lee Pierce Davis; and a sister, Mary Jane Davis. She is survived by her daughter, Natasha Poe and her husband Brandon of Albany, LA; a son, Darren Higgs and his wife Angela of Columbia, MS; and six grandchildren, Leslee Ann Higgs, Megan Poe, Lauren Higgs, Walker Poe, Weston Higgs, and Drew Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Society Hill Baptist Church where family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until service time. Reverend Mark McArthur will preside over services and interment will follow at Society Hill Cemetery.
