Bobby R. Smith, Sr., of Gautier, Mississippi, passed from this life into the presence of God on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the age of 77. He was born in Marion County, Mississippi to Toxie and Katie Smith where he lived the majority of his life. Bobby was employed with Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula and moved to Gautier in 1994 to be closer to his work from which he retired in 2005. He was a craftsman who enjoyed woodworking and was an avid deer hunter. Bobby served his community and his Lord through his membership with First Baptist Church of Vancleave. He was a man who could be stubborn and firm, yet tender and funny; but, will be remembered for his love and devotion for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Billy Smith and Benny Smith; and a son, Darrin Ray Smith. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Nelda Smith; two daughters, Vicky Lowery and husband, Lonnie and Shelby Smith; a son, Bobby R. Smith, Jr.; seven grandchildren, D.J. Delancey, Rebecca Delancey, Bobby R. Smith, III, Serenity Smith, Stephen Smith, Connor Smith, and Cadence Smith; two great-grandchildren, Naomi Pepper and Leo Pepper; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. The visitation for Bobby will be from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia. The funeral service, officiated by Kent Lassiter, will follow at 12:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Lott Cemetery assisted by Danny Smith, Kevin Smith, Tony Smith, Tracy Smith, Riley Garner, and Keith Garner serving as pallbearers.
