C. C. Sanford Jr.

C. C. Sanford, Jr, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 at the age of 75. He was born in Marion County where he has remained a lifelong resident. C. C. was a truck driver and drove for numerous companies during his career. He enjoyed farm work, but, his main interest was horses and wagons and going on trail rides with a wagon train. C. C. had a great sense of humor and was always laughing. He will be remembered for his ability to lift someone’s spirits by making them laugh and smile. He is preceded in death by his parents, Columbus and Betsy Sanford; a sister, Balzie Cavanaugh; and two brothers, George L. Sanford and Jack T. Sanford. C. C. is survived by a daughter, Amanda Amundson (Carl); a son, Christopher O. Sanford, Sr; three sisters, Bobbie Nell Lowery, Christine Gipson, and Patsy Ruth Broom; two brothers, Johnny Sanford (Kathryn) and Nathan Sanford (Joyce); three grandchildren, Audrey Amundson, Christopher O. Sanford, Jr, and Bradley Sanford; three great-grandchildren, Keyton Amundson, Bryden Coyne, and Abilene Sanford; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation for C. C. at Gates Road Baptist Church on Friday, June 25, 2021 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Brother Everette Broome and Brother Yancey Magee, will be at the church on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 3:00pm. Burial will follow at Gates Road Cemetery assisted by James Broom, Larry Peavy, Jackie Sanford, Cody Meche, Grady Ables, and Terrell Davis.
