Carolyn Graham, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, March 31, 2023. She was born in Columbia to John “Buster” and Emily Powell and has remained a lifelong resident of Marion County. Her battle with a serious medical condition in recent years showed her courage in facing hard challenges with a smile. Despite her sickness, Carolyn remained strong and committed to her family until the end. Prior to her illness, Carolyn enjoyed a career as a Nursing Assistant at The Myrtles and loved helping everyone around her. Carolyn met the love of her life, Johnnie Nolan, later in life. She lost Johnnie after only a few years together, but, she always proclaimed him to be the best man on earth.
She was preceded in death by her father, John “Buster” Powell; a sister, Betty Stewart; and a husband, Johnnie Nolan. Carolyn is survived by five children, Wanda Rodgers, John Rodgers, Lori Rodgers, Cindy Rodgers, and Heather Glover (Jonathan); her mother, Emily Powell; three sisters, Lela Smith (Ricky), Peggy Ray (Edward), and Lawanda Boudreaux (Dewayne); and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with.
The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Terry Kelly, will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 1:30pm. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00pm until service time. Burial will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery assisted by Jonathan Glover, Kevin Waldrup, Stephen Burge, Dewayne Boudreaux, John Boudreaux, Jacob Boudreaux, Jared Ray, Austin Myrick, and Karter Glover assisting as pallbearers.
