Charles L. Chance, of the Hathorn Community in Mississippi, passed away in Columbia, Mississippi on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at the age of 86. He was a lifelong resident of the community born to Steve and Lora Chance as one of ten children. Mr. Chance was a longtime member of Hathorn Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, and syrup making. He will be remembered as a quiet man with a dry sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Chance; his parents and his nine siblings. Mr. Chance is survived by his daughter, Jenny Chance; and numerous nieces and cousins. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Jeff Carney, will be at the graveside in Society Hill Cemetery on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 3:00pm. Friends may visit with the family for 15 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow assisted by Carey Blansett, Donald Robertson, Ralph Carter, Reed Houston, and Earnest Powell serving as pallbearers.
