After a fierce 20 month battle with osteosarcoma, Cooper Jason Brady went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2024, resurrection Sunday, in his home at the age of 14. Cooper was born on May 4, 2009 in Hattiesburg, MS and was reared in Columbia, MS. He was homeschooled and enjoyed the home part but never really liked the school part. He participated heavily in baseball from the time he was four years old up until the month of his diagnosis in July 2022.
Cooper loved being outdoors and was always active in “something” whether it was sports, fishing, hunting, camping, riding four-wheelers, shooting squirrels, playing video games, hunting doves, riding his scooter, or riding bikes. He was always tinkering with a flashlight, laser or lighter. Very rarely was this kid ever bored.
He loved his parents, but mostly loved just hanging with his brothers, cousins, and friends. He enjoyed his Wednesday night youth group class and made sure that we knew that he loved the Lord.
Though he was a quiet kid, he was very happy and fun loving. He took on his battle with osteosarcoma with strength and dignity that was beyond explanation. He never accepted pity or wanted to be treated any differently and always found a way to enjoy the things he loved, never letting his diagnosis prevent him from doing anything he wanted to do.
Cooper was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Tom Brady, and Sam Ramshur; and his grandmother, Gayle Turner. He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Jason Brady and Trista Brady; his big brother, Austin Brady, his little brother, Easton Brady; his little sister, Callie Brady; his grandmother, Shirley Ramshur; his grandfather, George Fail; and a host of aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Columbia. The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Tommy Broom, Reverend Cody Broome, and Reverend Ralph Sanford, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
