David L. DeOrnellas, of Foxworth, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 24, 2023 at the age of 70. He was born in Mobile, Alabama to Leopold and Hertha DeOrnellas and was raised in Foxworth by his parents, Otis and Hertha Broome. David served in law enforcement for 37 years, 35 years as a game warden. He taught the hunter education course to many youth in Marion County. When he retired, David was the District Supervisor in District 6 of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. He was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. David was stern, but kind and was known for his great sense of humor. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved his dogs and his John Deer tractor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leopold DeOrnellas; his parents, Otis and Hertha Broome; and a brother, John DeOrnellas. David is survived by, his wife of 47 years, Jackie DeOrnellas; a daughter, Kelly DeOrnellas Lindley (Will Stovall); two sisters, Mary Lee Maleck and Anna Katherine Davis; two brothers, Leo A. DeOrnellas (Mimi) and Stephen DeOrnellas (Betty); a granddaughter, Olivia Corinne Lindley and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a service to celebrate David’s life at Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 3:00pm. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00pm until service time.
