Doris Smith Williamson, of Houston, Texas, passed from this life into God’s presence on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the age of 99. She was born in Marion County, Mississippi to Thomas and Mary Smith and grew up in the Bunker Hill Community. Doris was a graduate of Bunker Hill High School where she played varsity basketball. In 1949, she moved to Houston, TX with her husband, Ralph C. Williamson where they lived until his retirement in 1991. They moved home to her beloved Marion County and for the next twenty years enjoyed Mississippi life. Her final years were spent back in Houston to be close to her family and son, Danny. Doris was a skilled bowler and has played all over the United States, winning many awards and medals with the Senior Olympics. She will be remembered for her passion for bowling, her love of Mississippi, and her devotion to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Smith; one sister, Ouida Blackburn; four brothers, Excel Smith, Paul Smith, Gene Smith, and Gray Smith; a daughter, Mary Diane Williamson; a son, Ronald Charles Williamson; and her husband, Ralph C. Williamson.
Doris is survived by a son, Danny Williamson and his wife, Holly; three grandchildren, Christopher Williamson and his partner, Randy Krug, Colleen Williamson and her partner, Jeff Lewis, and Mary Kate Roberts and her husband, Grant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation for Doris at Colonial Funeral Home on Monday, June 20, 2022 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. The funeral service will be at the graveside in Old Bunker Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 9:00am where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
