Esther S Patterson

Esther S. Patterson, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 at the age of 96. She was born on Merritt Island, Florida and her family moved to Mississippi when she was nine years old. She has been a resident of Marion County for many years and was a member of Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Patterson enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening , genealogy research and was a professional seamstress who worked with Pioneer and Movie Star. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be remembered for her devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rheda Beth Morgan; a son, Donald “Buster” Patterson; and a grandson, David Goar. Mrs. Patterson is survived by a daughter, Doris Goar; a son, Von O. “Odie” Patterson; two brothers, Levi Smith and Bud Smith; eleven grandchildren, Vicki Goar Powe and husband, Steve, Dennis Goar and wife, Connie, Warren Bennett, Emily Ramshur and husband, Chad, Stephanie Morgan, Glen Patterson and wife, Cindy, Vonda Kay Blackwell and husband, Scott, Renee Broom and husband, Jeff, Sheryl Patterson, Wade Patterson, and Heather Davis and husband, Jerry; sixteen great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. There will be a graveside service, officiated by Brother Dewitt Bain, at 3:00pm on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 in Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia. Glenn Patterson, Warren Bennett, Andrew Moree, Manton Broom, Steve Powe and Cody Flynt will assist as pallbearers.
