Garry Rankin, age 72 of Lumberton, MS passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, MS. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp, serving three tours in Vietnam, and worked many years as a residential carpenter. Garry was also a member of Spring Cottage Baptist Church. Mr. Rankin was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Rankin; sons, Terry Rankin, Berry Rankin, and Brad Rankin; and parents, David and Juanice Rankin. He is survived by three daughters, Jo-Ann Settle (John Wayne) of Sand Hill, MS, Denise Vincent (Melvin), and Cindy Beach (J.R.), both of Lumberton; two brothers, David Rankin (Alice) and Kenneth Rankin (Patty Gail), both of Lumberton; nine grandchildren, Mandy Entrekin, Beth Settle, Tyler Settle, Melanie Dewease, Blake Vincent, Nikki Childress, Megan Childress, Annagail Childress, and Triston Beach; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Baxterville Baptist Church where friends may visit with family from 10:00am until service time. Reverend Brad Ford and Reverend Scotty Chabert will preside at the service and interment will follow at Myrtle Grove Cemetery. Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of arrangements.

He loved his family with all his heart and this is what he centered his life around. Look to God for your strength n smile bc now he is with the one he loved the most. I didn't know him well. He went to dialysis with my husband Graysen. He was always sweet though when arriving and leaving.
