George L. Boyles, Sr., of Kokomo, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born in Columbia, Mississippi to Inis and John R. Boyles, Sr. George served our country in U.S. Navy and after separating from his military service, he worked as a truck driver for many years. He later earned an engineering degree and worked in the microchip industry for many years. Having lived away from Marion County most of his career, George was working for Intel in New Mexico when he retired and moved home in 2000. He was a man of faith and was always involved in community church wherever he lived. George had many interests and enjoyed tending his large garden, watching old western movies, listening to music of the 50's and 60's, and watching Alabama football. He was a jokester who enjoyed a good prank and a good laugh. George was a kind and sweet person who will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Teddy Boyles. George is survived by a daughter, Katie Brewer (Dale); five sons, George L. Boyles, Jr., Willie Boyles (Tonya), Andy Boyles, Josh Messer (Sarah), and Johnny Boyles; a brother, John R. Boyles, Jr.; eleven grandchildren, Brittany Cook (Andrew), Brandon Boyles, Seth Williams, Justin Downing, Zach Downing, Stephanie Boyles, Kaden Boyles, Kaven Boyles, Jacob Messer, Autumn Messer, and Eason Brewer; and a great-granddaughter, Lyla Florey.
The funeral service, officiated by John Boyles, Jr., will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 2:00pm. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00pm until service time. Burial will follow in Foxworth Cemetery.
