Grace Butler Price transitioned to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Born January 28, 1928, to Jeff and Minnie Ginn Butler, Grace was blessed to live 97 years, 8 months, and 11 days. She and her husband, Jewel Price, built their life on their farm near the Holly Springs Community. Here they raised their seven children who were born in the first sixteen years of their 68 years of marriage. Grace considered herself a housewife, but her actual role was much more. She worked side-by-side with Jewel tending crops and livestock and growing a large garden. She created fun and adventure in the lives of her family with countless picnics, time at creeks, and annual searches in the woods for the perfect Christmas tree – always with kids in tow. Trips to the Smoky Mountains and the Ozarks became an annual tradition for many years. Holidays were always festive and her house became known for her annual Christmas displays of handcrafted wooden decorations and lights.
Grace made a profession of faith in Christ at Kokomo Baptist Church in her youth and was baptized in Ten Mile Creek. Later in life she became a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until prevented by declining health. Sunday services on the radio and daily studying the Bible became her new routine.
Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Jewel Price; her eldest two sons, Davie Price and Jay Price; and two sons-in-law, David May and Neal Speights. Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis McKenzie (Billy), Polly Speights, and Pam May; two sons, Chris Price (Annette) and Greg Price; daughter-in-law, Brenda Price; six grandchildren, Kristi Fowler (Markel), Brad McKenzie (Megan), Cindy Lowe (Todd), Andrew May (Tanessa), Aleshia Bracey (Tim), and Jaybus Price (Katelyn); nine great-grandchildren, Kirsten Fowler, Jesse Fowler, Ayden McKenzie, Myles McKenzie, Shane Carney (Kayla), Tucker Williamson, Harrison May, Jayden Bracey, and Jayce Bracey; and two great-great-grandchildren, Simon Carney and Samuel Carney.
The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Ron Jordan and Reverend Brad Cooper, will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 11:00am. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 until service time. Grace will be laid to rest in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery assisted by Chris Price, Jaybus Price, Brad McKenzie, Andrew May, Todd Lowe, and Jayden Bracey serving as pallbearers. Andy Butler, Dennie Rials, Mitcheal Thornhill, Everett Price, Tony Smith, Cotton Reid, Everett Lee, and Ken Powell will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family extends gratitude to her long-term caregivers, Paula Waites and Darla Price, both of whom provided excellent care and friendship to Mrs. Grace.
