Hosea Ray Thornhill Jr.

Ray Thornhill, of Foxworth, Mississippi, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020 at the age of 87. Mr. Thornhill was born in Foxworth and joined the U. S. Marine Corps in 1952. He served one tour overseas in Laos and Cambodia and was living in Southern California when his final enlistment ended in 1964. After 32 years in California, he came home to Marion County in 1993. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Thornhill; his father, Hosea Ray Thornhill, Sr; and one brother, Donald L. Thornhill. Mr. Thornhill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Audrey Jean “Jeannie” Thornhill; two nieces, Elizabeth Thornhill and Melinda Thornhill; two nephews, David Thornhill and Kevin Thornhill; several great nieces and nephews and a host of devoted cousins. The funeral service will be at 2:00pm on Monday, February 3, 2020 in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home where friends may visit from 12:30 until service time. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
