Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, MS for Howard Glen “Bimbo” Sistrunk, 73, of Columbia who passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024 at his home after a brief battle with cancer. Interment will be at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Columbia. Rev. Yancy Magee will officiate the services. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Bimbo Sistrunk was born May 18, 1951 in Columbia. He was a longtime resident of the Pine Burr community and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he attended faithfully. He was retired from the oilfield and had many friends from this time. He loved visiting with friends and family, golfing, and fishing. He adored his grandkids and was always ready to talk about them.
Mr. Sistrunk was preceded in death by his parents, Harold “Bill” and Dora Sistrunk; four brothers, Jesse, Tommy, Gerald, and Marty Sistrunk; and a sister, Sharon Carter.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Donna Sistrunk of Columbia; two children, Donna Dickerson (Mike) of Hammond, LA, and Jeremy Sistrunk (Mary) of Columbia; two stepsons, Paul “Tony” Moree (Elisha) of Columbia, and Joshua Moree (Dana) of Clinton, MS; and four grandchildren, Emma, Jack, Harper, and Norah Moree.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sistrunk, Mike Dickerson, Ransome Dement, Matt Fornea, Tim Solomon, and Grayson Whitehurst. Frank Johnson will serve as honorary pallbearer.
