Karen Stringer Jerkins, of Foxworth, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the age of 69. She was born in Walthall County, Mississippi to Dudley and Thelma Stringer and has been a lifelong resident of Marion County. Karen was employed with Hattiesburg Clinic and worked for 33 years in the Columbia Dialysis Unit. She loved her work, her coworkers, and her patients. Karen was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be remembered the deep love that she had for her family. She was known for her excellent cooking skills and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her greatest joy came from supporting her boys hunting and playing baseball and grandchildren playing softball.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma Stringer and Dudley Stringer. Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Johnny Jerkins; two sons, Johnny Dustin Jerkins and Derrick Jerkins (Krystal); her step-mother, Theomae Stringer; a sister Rhonda Adcox; two brothers, Kenneth Wayne Stringer (Judy) and Dudley Karl Stringer; two grandchildren, Callie Jerkins and Caitlyn Jerkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral service for Karen at Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 2:30pm. Friends may visit with the family from 12:30pm until service time. She will be laid to rest in the Bedwell Family Cemetery assisted by Jonathan Foxworth, Shannon Stringer, William Stringer, Hunter Stringer, Jeremy Adcox, and Kaplan Adcox serving as pallbearers.
