Kathleen “Kat” Merritt, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at the age of 79. She was born in Marion County to Demus and Ouida Holmes where she has remained a lifelong resident. Kat did not like to stay at home and always enjoyed her many adventures out. Every day from 3:30 to 6:00pm you could find her drinking coffee with her ladies at the Shell Station. She was a woman of faith and read her Bible every day. Kat will be remembered as a sweet, kindhearted, special lady.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Frank Merritt. Kat is survived by a special cousin, Dimple Oxner; and numerous other cousins and friends.
There will be a visitation for Kat at Colonial Funeral Home from 10:00am until 12:00pm on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:00pm. She will be laid to rest in Foxworth Cemetery.
