Mazie Pittman Crump, of Foxworth, Mississippi, passed from this life into God's presence on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the age of 96. She was born in Marion County to Eddie and Eva Mae Pittman where she has remained a lifelong resident. Sister Mazie, as she was known by most, was a faithful member of Woodlawn Church in Columbia and a woman of deep faith in her Lord. Prior to joining Woodlawn Church, she had been a member of Oak Grove Pentecostal Church where she played piano for over 50 years. Sister Mazie was an excellent cook and loved to cook meals for large family gatherings. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. Sister Mazie enjoyed word search puzzles and was a prolific reader. Reading her Bible was her passion and she will be remembered for her deep faith and love for God and her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dimple Clark; two grandsons, James Matthew Crump and Jeremy Lavon Crump; and her beloved husband, Thomas J. Crump, Sr. Sister Mazie is survived by four sons, Thomas J. Crump, Jr., Jerry Crump (Lisa), Greg Crump (Bertha), and David Crump; two sisters, Donis Broome and Nell Little; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a visitation for Sister Mazie at Colonial Funeral Home on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Stephen Binion and Reverend Burl Livingston, will be in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00am. Sister Mazie will be laid to rest in Foxworth Cemetery, assisted by Charles Crump, Bobby Crump, Benjie Crump, Brandon Crump, Allen Mulford, and Mark Bowman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include Mitch Barnett and Bruce Welford.
