Minnie Belle Broom, of Columbia, Mississippi, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the age of 84. She was born in Marion County as one of eight children to Oscar and Letha Hunt where she has remained a lifelong resident. Minnie Belle was the consummate homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her family as they all worked the family dairy farm. She was a woman of faith and like the Proverbs 31 woman, she would rise early in the morning to prepare a meal for her family before taking care of the farm responsibilities. After retiring from the dairy business, she found great enjoyment in traveling anywhere and anytime that she could. There was no doubt that she loved her family deeply and Minnie Belle will be remembered for her devotion to her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Robert Hunt, Hazel Hunt Ryals, Chester Hunt, George Hunt, Mary Jean Hunt Sartin, Faye Hunt Statham, and Lewis Hunt; a daughter, Krystal Lasha Broom; and her beloved husband, Ervin Dempsey Broom. Minnie Belle is survived by four children, Dimple Broom, Roxanne Broom Johnson (Kim), Rebecca Broom Webster (John), and Lea Wheat; five grandchildren, Maranda Johnson Lott, Michael Buckley (Brandon Nail), Daniel McNeese, Kimberly Johnson Dugas (Tad), and Morgan Buckley (Megan); three great-grandchildren, Layla Lott, Kai Dugas, and Waelyn Buckley; a special niece, Irene Singley; and her “partner in crime,” Joyce Faye Hutchins.
There will be a visitation for Minnie Belle at Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Sammy Foxworth, will be at the graveside in Singley Cemetery on Friday, January 12, 2014 at 3:30pm. Michael Buckley, Brandon Nail, Daniel McNeese, Morgan Buckley, Tad Dugas, Tony McGowan will serve as pallbearers.
