Mitch Anthony, age 62 of Darbun, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at Forrest General Hospital surrounded by family and friends. He always felt blessed that God allowed him to see and hear the beauty of the outdoors. He loved nature, the sound of wind in the trees and the beauty of sunrise in the woods. He would spend hours sitting on his hunting property listening and watching for wildlife. He cherished the times and memories he and his daughter, Alex, made hunting together, from the first dove shoot in September through bow and gun season for deer and into Spring turkey season. They shared endless laughs and many stories. He was proud that his son-in-law, Carter, joined them in their hunting adventures. The three of them shared memories of hunting turkey in Florida, elk in New Mexico, and deer and turkey in Illinois. He was so in hopes to one day take his grandson, Stetson, hunting. In the meantime, he and Stetson formed a special bond riding the tractor and Bawpaw’s hunting truck. He was always quick to give praise, appreciation, and admiration to his wife, Kimmie. They shared four weeks short of 42 years together. He deeply loved and cherished all of his family and found great pleasure in the time spent having large gatherings for fish fries, crawfish boils and barbecues. His spirituality was a private and deeply held source of strength. Being a member of Kokomo Baptist Church was where he found comfort and peace in fellowship and worship.
Mitch is survived by his wife, Kimmie; daughter, Alex and son-in-law, Carter Culbertson; grandson, Stetson Mitch Culbertson and granddaughter due in November; his mother, Dian Anthony; his father, Doyle (Brenda) Anthony; two brothers and best friends, Mike (Johnna) Anthony and Mark (Shelly) Anthony; nephews, Evan Anthony, Logan Anthony, Blake Powell, Chris (Maria)Statham, and Michael (Emily) Statham; nieces, Rylee (Trace) McNabb and Cassie (Cory) Stringer; mother-in-law, Bertie Bullock; sister-in-law, Amie (Brett) Powell, brother-in-law, Dean Lowery; half-sister, Malia (Jon) Triggs; and a host of special aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
