Myra Ann Loflin, of Sumrall, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the age of 92. Missing her next birthday by four days, Myra was born on June 29, 1933, in the Enon Community to George and Gertrude Clinton. She was raised in the Midway Community and attended Sumrall High School, where she excelled in basketball. Myra loved reminiscing about her days as a star player and the memories she made on the court. In her later years, her love for the game never faded. She became an avid women's college and professional basketball fan and enjoyed cheering on her favorite teams and players, such as Coach Pat Summitt and Caitlin Clark. After graduating high school, Myra worked at A&P Groceries in Columbia, Mississippi, where she met her future husband, Kenneth. They married on July 29, 1962, and together they built a life and raised their family in Baxterville, Mississippi. Some of Myra's happiest memories were made in the Great Smoky Mountains. She never missed an opportunity to visit and loved returning to her favorite places, from the Candy Kitchen and the Apple Barn to the outlet mall. Those trips became cherished traditions that brought her joy throughout her life.
Following Kenneth's passing, Myra moved back to Sumrall where she lived with her daughter. She remained surrounded by family and continued sharing her love, wisdom, and stories with those closest to her. She was a faithful member of West Black Creek Baptist Church and leaves behind a legacy of faith that will continue through generations who were blessed to know her. Myra will be remembered for her love of family, her strong faith, her competitive spirit, and the many moments she shared with the people she loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Loflin; and her siblings, Pete Clinton, Juanita Clinton Ball, Cecil Clinton, Hazel Clinton Duncan, Elsie Clinton Ball, and Quitman Clinton. Myra is survived by two daughters, Donna Loflin Carpenter (Larry) of Sumrall and Lisa Loflin Miles (Johnny) of Bogalusa; two sons, Barry Loflin (Judy) of Lumberton and Perry Loflin (Margaret) of Baxterville; seven grandchildren, Angela Steele (Tracy), Nancy Hebert (Troy), Zachary Loflin, Hope Schabow (Shane), Shelby Tolbert, Collin Carpenter (Leslie), and Jordan Carpenter; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Alice "Mae" Robbins of Columbia; a brother, John Clinton of Brooklyn; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Loflin Seal of Carriere.
