Nolan Smith, age 82, of Columbia, MS passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024. Even though he worked a few years in the oilfield, he primarily was a lifelong carpenter by trade. Mr. Smith was a faithful member of Faithway Landmark Missionary Baptist Church and always seemed to care and be concerned for others. He enjoyed the outdoors and took pride in keeping his yard clean and manicured.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his first wife, Nell Moree Smith; his son, Timothy Nolan Smith; his father and mother, Wiley Smith and Flora Lucille Johnson Smith; and by several sisters, and all of his brothers.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Waverdell Smith; sons, Steven Smith (Debbie), and Jonathan Smith (Laura); a sister Barbara Nell Howard (Lionel); nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Nolan will be held Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Brother Jonathan Smith, Brother Darrin Webb, and Brother Don Jacobs will officiate and burial will follow at Graves Creek Cemetery assisted by Andrew Smith, Daniel Smith, Benjamin Smith, Nathanael Smith, Justin Singley, Ramsey Beck, Kalyn Knight and Don Moree serving as pallbearers.
