Nona Virginia Carroll

Nona Virginia Carroll, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed from this life into God's presence on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the age of 98. She was one of fifteen children born to James and Hattie Bowles and has been a resident of Columbia for the past 70 years. Nona had many interests and especially enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and listening to Country and Gospel music. Known for her excellent cooking skills, she loved preparing meals for gatherings of family and friends. Nona was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church of Columbia who leaves a legacy of faith. She will be remembered for the deep love that she had for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, a daughter, Rhonda Holmes; a son, John Carroll; a grandson, Doug Reagan; and her beloved husband, William A. "Bill" Carroll, Jr. Nona is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Donnie) McDaniel and Ann (Tim) Lewis; a son, Jamie (Art Cook) Carroll; five grandchildren, Donna Holmes, Austin (Savannah) Holmes, Robbie McDaniel, Allison McDaniel, and Timothy Lewis; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Nona will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Nona's honor to First Baptist Church of Columbia.
